Press Guide, Loyola Marymount University, 1989-1990

This is the media guide for Loyola Marymount University basketball in Los Angeles for the years of 1989-1990. Loyola Marymount was hosting the West Coast Conference tournament when on March 4, 1990, in the quarterfinal game against Portland, Hank Gathers died on the Lions home court. This year Hank was featured in ESPN's "30 for 30 film series," in the documentary entitled "Guru of Go," about coach Paul Westhead. Hank Gathers was 23 years old when he passed away over 20 years ago. The game in which Hank died is listed on the rear cover of this guide.

"Mouse Hunt" Movie Promo Box, Dreamworks, Christmas, 1997

This is the promo kit for the movie "Mouse Hunt." The movie starred Nathan Lane, Christopher Walken, and a mouse. It was released by Dreamworks and debuted at Christmas in 1997. The cheese block looking deal is called a "Cheesehead Cozy" and it is designed to keep your frosty beverage frosty by its placement in the big cheese hole in the cozy. Thanks to the founders of this great nation for creating a country that allows me to write sentences with the words "big cheese hole" in them.

More cartoons from the New Storz Beer Cookbook. What I enjoy are the memories some of these recipes bring back, especially at this holiday season. It reminds me of the time I was 7 and my mom, my brothers and sisters and I saved up the money to buy dad a new rifle for Christmas. We saved all year and us kids did extra work around the neighborhood and collected soda bottles to raise the money. I remember the snow blowing on that cold morning when Dad insisted we go out looking for something to shoot for Christmas. I wondered if this was that "tradition" thing he was always talking about. Unfortunately, I was never able to find out. We never went hunting again after the "accident" that Christmas Day.

Shooting my dad by accident was not really a big deal. It was a simple mistake and he took it pretty well. It was only a flesh wound really. Anyway, I guess what compounded the trauma for me was when my Uncle Freddie insisted on driving home with my dad strapped to the fender of the Buick. It was cold, but he was not really bleeding too badly, and they were new seats in a fairly new car so...............anyway I really like the cartoons in this old cookbook. These are just a few of my favorites and I hope you enjoy them too. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas too!!!
