Through By Daylight

Through By Daylight
This is a cover and illustration from William Taylor Adams (Oliver Optic) story "Through By Daylight." It is part of the Lake Shore Series of stories by Adams, who went by a number of pen names in his career. This one was published by Lee & Shepard of Boston, MA, in 1869. This story is subtitled "The Young Engineer of the Lake Shore Express," and it is a truly spirited tale.
